In March 2026, the Healthcare Clowning International Meeting 2026 (HCIM 2026) took place for the first time in Switzerland at the SwissTech Convention Center in Lausanne. More than 600 participants from 45 countries, representing around 150 clowning artists and healthcare organisations, came together to exchange ideas and celebrate a congress that combined a vibrant mix of scientific presentations, professional development workshops, and artistic performances.
Under the theme “Shaping the Future of Healthcare Together,” the congress addressed current developments and research findings on the impact of healthcare clowning on the mental and physical well-being of patients, their families, and medical staff. Particular attention was also given to inclusion, diversity, and the integration of art, humour, and empathy into medical practice.
Life Science Communication supported the organising foundation, Theodora Foundation, in national and international communication activities as well as fundraising, helping to make the organisation of this unique congress possible.
