The Swiss Association of the European Academy of Patients on Therapeutic Innovations, EUPATI Switzerland, held the first Swiss Patient Forum on patient information on 27 October 2017. The aim was for various Swiss patient organisations to network and work together to improve their access to understandable, up-to-date and accurate information about their disease and the treatment option.

In brief presentations, other stakeholders emphasised that they shared the demands of patient organisations. However, Swissmedic and swissethics are often tied by law and the pharmaceutical industry and academic research are under great time pressure in clinical trials.

Finally, e-Health expert Daniela Gunz gave an insight into upcoming developments, such as the electronic patient file, before the event was rounded off with an aperitif.

Coordination and knowledge transfer for better patient information

The Swiss Patient Forum was organised by EUPATI Switzerland. The association aims to act as a coordination platform for the various patient organisations. In addition, it trains and educates patients so that they can contribute to medical research and development and improve the availability of patient-friendly information.

Life Science Communication supported EUPATI Switzerland in branding the Swiss Patient Forum and is responsible for the association’s media work.

A first article about EUPATI Switzerland was broadcast in the radio programme Echo of the Time by SRF 1.
