For the 8th time the Werner Alfred Selo Foundation in cooperation with Life Science Communication organized a symposium on mental health. The all-day event was dedicated to the topic « Family in Crisis – Burnout and Depression between Family and Work».

The symposium of the Werner Alfred Selo Foundation took place this year on 18 June in the community hall in Baar. The linchpin of this year’s conference was life in the family with a mental illness. This sensitive topic can place a heavy burden on parents and children and pose major challenges.

In the morning, the roughly 130 participants received top-class presentations on the current state of knowledge, prevention, treatment of burnout and depression, and contact points for those affected. While medical professionals were offered further training in the afternoon, the other participants were spoilt for choice between four practical workshops. In the first workshop practical exercises for the prevention and treatment of burnout and stress could be tried out, while in the second workshop one patient reported impressively on her experiences. In the third workshop the participants practiced mindfulness and in the fourth workshop a new therapy approach for depression treatment was presented.

The successful event was rounded off with a lively panel discussion and closing remarks by Marylou Selo, the founder and president.
