On 12 March 2015, on the occasion of World Kidney Day, a public information and tasting event took place on Bern’s Waisenhausplatz, attended by patients, doctors, politicians and celebrities.
The Swiss Kidney Patients Association, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, invited visitors to taste a kidney-friendly saffron risotto. TV cook Myriam Zumbühl, who prepared and served appetizers according to the recipes from the new “Cookbook for dialysis-appropriate Nutrition”, was an exclusive participant.
The event was aimed at the general population as well as kidney patients and their relatives. Information on kidney diseases, their effects and possible treatments was provided. Renal disease is on the rise worldwide, and in Switzerland alone more than 3,000 people are dependent on dialysis. The event was supported by various partners and planned and implemented by Life Science Communication.
